All Beauty Surrounds was my first "official" solo music release. It was released on March 1, 2010 and originally made available exclusively as a Limited Edition of 100 compact discs. Each disc featured unique, original artwork and was packaged in an individually hand-crafted, signed and numbered vellum sleeve. Let me tell you... that was a labor of love! The music was later made available digitally and now, just over 10 years later I present you with this newly remastered version of the album.

These songs were recorded between late 2009 and early 2010 on location on the Island of Hawai'i and also in the two California cities of Santa Cruz and San Diego. Mixing took place in San Diego as well.

The album is a blend of solo guitar, musique concrète, acousmatic music, and electronica. It was recorded entirely on location in various settings ranging from the the Puna Forest Reserve on the Big Island, to the coastal cliffs of Southern California. As such, there are a lot of sounds on the recordings that one typically would try to avoid if one were recording music in a traditional studio setting. All of these sounds: birds, planes, cars, coqui frogs, ocean waves, etc. were all intended to be presented as a part of this music. To me they are as integral to the recording as the music itself. My intention was to capture in-the-moment snapshots of my instrument's sounds combined with the natural soundscape of whatever environment I was in at the time.

Listeners of this music have reported to me that it is an effective and soothing countermeasure to being stuck in gridlock traffic, as well as being popular with the yoga crowd. It takes the listener on a journey. A detour from the ordinary, offering a pause and perhaps a chance to reflect. Each of the tracks can be quite meditative, as can the whole album heard in its entirety. I feel it is received equally well either as background music, or with attentive listening. My preferred method of reception is by comfortably lying back on the floor and listening on good headphones. However you choose to listen, I hope all this beauty surrounds you.
